Cash Contributions

Cash gifts generate the most immediate return from contributors and provide support for a wide variety of needs at the Mississippi School of the Arts. The tax benefits received for cash contributions significantly reduce the actual costs involved in making your gift. Payments may be made with cash, credit card, or bank draft and are tax deductible for the calendar year in which they are donated.

Using our online school store, you can make a quick donation to the foundation. Simply click the button below to get started. Donations are tax-deductible. Please make sure to provide your contact information so we may give you additional information regarding tax-deductions (if needed). For additional information, contact Mississippi School of the Arts at 601-823-1300.

Matching Gifts

Many corporations match donations that their employees make to educational institutions. Matching gifts from an employer can double or even triple your gift to the MSA Foundation. Ask your employer about matching programs and include the appropriate forms when making your contribution.

Commemorative Gifts

You can make donations to the MSA Foundation to honor occasions such as a birthday, graduation, or any special event. Contributions may also be given in memory of a student, relative, friend, Whitworth College graduate, or business associate. Your designee will receive an acknowledgement of your gift to the Foundation in honor or in memory of the honoree. The amount of the donation will remain confidential.

Stocks and Bonds

Securities, including stocks and bonds, can be used as gifts to the MSAF. The donor can compute the income tax deduction using the average value of the securities on the date of the contribution. The amount of the deduction is based on the current value of the asset, rather than the initial cost of acquisition.

Endowments

An endowment is a fund that is kept in perpetuity from which only annual earnings may be spent for the specified purpose. The principal of the contribution is not spent. Donors may contribute to an existing endowed fund or may create and name a new endowment with a gift of $10,000.00 or more.

Real Estate, Personal Property, Artwork

Donors may wish to donate real estate or personal property such as furniture, works of art, books, collections, musical instruments, or even artifacts from Whitworth College. For information on the donation policy, contact the Executive Director or an MSA Foundation Board Member.

Deferred Contributions

Deferred gifts are arranged during a donor’s lifetime, but may not actually be received by the Foundation until a later date. Gifts such as those made through a will, charitable gift annuities, life insurance, or retained life estate, are examples of a few options for bequests to the MSA Foundation. For more information, contact the Executive Director at (601) 823-1300.

In-Kind Goods and Services

Companies, corporations, or individuals can support the Mississippi School of the Arts through the donation of goods or services.

Naming Opportunities

Numerous possibilities exist to honor an individual or relative by naming a space for them permanently. Naming options range from gardens, to individual classrooms, galleries, or entire buildings. The financial requirements for naming opportunities differ in relation to the value of the space in question. Please discuss your ideas with Suzanne Hirsch, Executive Director or a MSA Foundation Board Member.
