Recently, Kelly Walters, a visual arts instructor in the Department of Visual Arts at Mississippi School of the Arts, was featured in several pages of the Brookhaven Magazine, a local publication. Mississippi School of the Arts would like to highlight the publication and the achievements of visual artist and instructor, Kelly Walters. In addition, we would like to congratulate Kelly for receiving the MAEA Bill Poirier Outstanding Art Educator of the Year Award for 2017! The Mississippi Art Educator’s Association Awards program recognizes excellence in the many outstanding individuals and supporters of art education in Mississippi. The award criteria are based upon the individual art educator’s focus on bringing quality art education to the state of Mississippi and increasing public awareness of the importance of quality art education.
