2016-portfolio-reviewOn October 20th, 2016, colleges and universities, once again, gathered at Mississippi School of the Arts to review current students’ visual art portfolios of seniors and juniors. Institutions such as University of Southern Mississippi, Delta State University, Belhaven University, Mississippi State University, Memphis College of Art, Hinds Community College, and more, were onsite to help direct students towards a higher education in the arts.

“Don’t just pick a college, because they have the program. Make sure you know the instructors and know their work, because they’re the ones who will be teaching you. You want to make sure it is of good quality.” said an instructor from Coahoma Community College. “We’re all artists. We’re all storytellers. We tell our story through our art.” ~ Belhaven University.

Portfolio Review Day gave a great opportunity for visual art instructors from around the state to come and critique artwork and to give students suggestions prior to entering into the two or four-year university arena.
