“Visions Across Time” fires up the beginning of the 2017-2018 Mississippi School of the Arts (MSA) school year with a gallery show that expands across three years of work from the visual department. One specific work by an alumnus who graduated in 2016 is a large piece that hangs as a testimony to the work produced in that time period. Many outstanding pieces from recent 2016-2017 alumni are also displayed on the walls of the gallery.

This artwork from the permanent collection ranges from large wood panels, a staple of the MSA visual department, to small canvases. There are also many pieces scattered within the gallery that are drafted by current juniors and seniors. In addition, the gallery also exhibits a sneak peek of a future showcase with a wall dedicated to the guest artist Greg Cartmell.

This show acts as a testament to the art produced in our department over a span of three years, acting as both a light to the past and a glimpse to the future, due to inclusion of the guest artist’s work alongside the work of recently enrolled juniors.
