Students at Mississippi School of the Arts had the opportunity to showcase their talent when several colleges and universities attended the school’s Portfolio Review and Audition Day. Students in Visual, Vocal, Media. Theatre, Literary, and Dance performed and showcased work from the junior and senior year. Not only did they showcase, but they also listened as directors and professors presented their program offerings.

The event was organized by Visual Arts Instructor, Kelly Varner.

“We learned a lot in the events in hopes to improve it for years to come. It is my hope that this exposure for our students will enable more opportunities for the future. The faculty were all very complimentary of our students’ talents and think the idea is great.” said Suzanne Hirsch, executive director of the school.

According to Hirsch, the idea came from Booker T. Washington High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, Texas. They host the same type of event over a span of multiple days; College Showcase.
