Hannah Rice (right) conducts the MSA Chorale during a workshop. Hannah is a student at Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. Her piece, “There Is Music”, was performed at the 2017 spring vocal concert.

The Mississippi School of the Arts Chorale, an award-winning choir, performed a piece of music written by Hannah Rice, a student at Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts (LSMSA). The state school is located in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

During a one-day workshop, Hannah directed the chorale, showing members the specific style of how she imagined her piece being performed. Although Hannah is also the daughter of MSA’s vocal music director, Patton Rice, the workshop was another example of collaboration between state-supported schools that provides students an opportunity to interact and succeed at the highest level.
